Ages 7-12 There is a lot to be learned from the artists who came before us. For this course, I will have students learn a little bit about an artist (contemporary or historical) and we will try out their technique or style. Previous artists we have taken inspiration from include Dam Lam; Frida Khalo; BRIKlovesART; Jean Michael Basquiat; Dale Chihuly; Keith Haring; Henri Matisse and many others.
Each class will have a warm up, a ‘main course’ project and I always sneak in some fillers for early finishers or kids that want to do a little extra. I aim to introduce new materials and techniques every class. I teach terminology and historical references that will inform budding art practices across whatever mediums students pursue in the future.
