Wednesdays 7pm, Art Laboratory

$220.00

I wanted to offer a creative space and materials for young makers and artists. One of my favorite parts of being a community based arts educator is witnessing the spark get lit and have kids push their own limits. No curriculum, no enforced aim or outcome. I will structure the first couple of classes with warm-ups, creative exercises and facilitate recognition of creative impulses. I hope to facilitate space for experimentation, follow curiosities and learn in a hands-on way in the direction of each kid’s interest.

I would recommend this session for kids that have the implicit urge to create. The doodlers; the ones who can make a backstory for a cardboard box; the performers. I have experienced a lot of kids like this in my camps and classes and find the structure is sometimes limiting to their creative impulses. I want this to be a free form space to explore, create and have access to materials and teaching as needed. I am willing to take any age of kid for this class, but they would need to be able to function independently when creating- use scissors, write their own name, clean-up and take instructions. Recommended minimum age 8, but I have had brilliant students as young as 5 that I would not want to exclude.

Runs October 1st to November 12th.
